Union Education Programs Win Full Accreditation

Union College has learned that its undergraduate and graduate programs in education have been fully reaccredited by the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB).

The reaccreditation status applies to all education-related programs offered by Union.

The Union College campus is now tobacco-free.

A comprehensive tobacco-free policy went into effect August 2 and applies to the entire Barbourville campus, Union College London Center, and any properties leased, owned or operated by the college.

Union College Wins Half-Million Dollar Grant for Regional Scholarships

Union College has received a half-million dollar grant to fund scholarships for students in southeastern Kentucky.

The grant was awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The purpose of the grant is to support southeastern Kentucky students with academic promise and financial need who wish to study math, biology and chemistry at Union.

Lorene Putnam, Ed.D. RN, CNE, has been hired to lead Union College’s new Department of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Union Approved to Begin Nursing Program in August


Union College has received approval to move forward with an RN-to-BSN nursing program. The first cohort of students will begin in August.

Nurses interested in the program can apply at any time, though fall classes begin on August 24.

Union College Prepares Teachers for Cameroon


Twelve current and future K-12 French teachers were students for two days in May at Union College in Barbourville. The group attended a pre-departure orientation on May 21 and 22 to prepare for a field experience in Cameroon, Africa.
