Debora D'Anna Appointed Dean of Students at Union College
Union College has announced that Debora L. D'Anna has been appointed Dean of Students, effective May 1. D'Anna is currently chair of the department of Wellness, Human Performance and Recreation and assistant professor of health and physical education.
"I've known Debbie for seven years," said Union president David Joyce, "and I'm confident the skills and expertise she's gained as a department administrator, in the classroom as a teacher, and on the court as a coach, will all serve her well as dean."
As Dean of Students, D'Anna will be responsible for all aspects of student life, including residential life and campus activities. She will also be a member of the college's executive leadership team. In addition, D'Anna will continue to teach one class per semester.
"I'm very excited and can't wait to get started," said D'Anna. "I love both teaching and the student life side, so this is truly my dream job. I'll be able to teach all the time, just in a different format," she added.
D'Anna joined Union in 1992 as a health and physical education instructor and head women's basketball coach. In 1997, she was promoted to assistant professor and department chair. Prior to coming to Union, D'Anna was an instructor at Sue Bennett College in London for four years. While there, she also coached women's basketball and softball and was recognized as coach of the year by the Kentucky Junior College Athletic Conference.
D'Anna, who grew up in Mt. Vernon, holds a bachelor's degree in physical education from Berea College, and a master's in health education from Eastern Kentucky University.
